Faced with growing environment and climate challenges, we must act urgently, decisively and fairly. Our 8th EAP monitoring report takes stock of progress towards Europe’s key environment and climate goals and concludes that the EU risks missing most of the targets by 2030.

Environmental degradation and climate change are impacting us all. Full implementation of environment and climate policies, additional measures when necessary, and mainstreaming into other policy domains are needed to help the EU progress towards meeting its targets. Adequate finance will be key to unlocking faster progress.

    Europe is not prepared for rapidly growing climate risks

    Europe is the fastest warming continent in the world, and climate risks are threatening its energy and food security, ecosystems, infrastructure, water resources, financial stability, and people’s health. According to the EEA assessment, the European Climate Risk Assessment (EUCRA), many of these risks have already reached critical levels and could become catastrophic without urgent and decisive action.
